Wearing plenty of layers in the cold is the key to staying warm but not overheating.

Winter Camping Tip

Instead of sticking the thickest jumper you own on when out camping, hiking or just walking in the cold, wear a few slightly thinner layers instead. If you warm up too much and start to sweat, the sweat goes cold and stays cold and wet making it much more difficult to warm up again after a bout of activity.

If you wear a few t-shirts/long sleeve tops under a fleece, jumper or jacket instead then you can remove layers and regulate your body heat as needs be.
