Vango Roca Air Low vs Cayman Air Low: Which Should You Choose?

Two campervans with grey inflatable drive-away awnings, camping tables and chairs on a grassy campsite overlooking green countryside.

World of Camping |

The Vango Roca Air Low and Outdoor Revolution Cayman Air Low are both inflatable drive-away awnings for campervans, with sewn-in groundsheets and the flexibility to leave your living space pitched while you take the vehicle out. But their connection ranges, packed weights and supplied packages differ.

Our recommendation: start with your measured attachment height. If both fit, the Cayman is worth shortlisting for its lower listed price, included footprint and lower listed packed weight. The Roca is worth considering if its layout, AirZone ventilation, SkyTrack/SkyHook compatibility and optional Roamer annex suit your trips. Neither is automatically the right choice for every van.

This comparison covers the Vango Roca Air Low and the Outdoor Revolution Cayman Air Low 2026 with free footprint, not the Cayman T2, T3, T3 Lite or T4. Prices and availability were checked on 20 October 2026 and can change.

These figures come from the current product listings. Check the exact package before ordering, particularly when comparing total carried weight with accessories added. Both awnings were available to order online when checked.

First check: will either awning fit your campervan?

The Roca Air Low lists an attachment-height range of 180–210cm. The Cayman Air Low lists 180–220cm. That extra upper range matters: if your attachment point is 215cm above level ground, it falls within the Cayman’s stated range but outside the Roca Low’s.

Measure to the actual attachment point, not the roof. Height alone does not guarantee compatibility: also check the connection method, usable rail length, door clearance and space beside the vehicle. The Roca specification lists a 260cm kador length and a 240cm connection width; these are separate figures, not interchangeable measurements. The Cayman description specifies 4mm and 6mm twin cowl piping.

If your connection point is near a range boundary, contact us with your measurements before ordering. Do not select a Low model simply because it looks suitable for your type of van.

Living space and access

The Roca description highlights two tunnel doors, AirZone ventilation and SkyTrack/SkyHook compatibility for suitable hanging lights or storage. Its fully sewn-in groundsheet helps reduce draughts, insects and ground moisture. A compatible Roamer annex is available separately for additional bedroom or storage space.

The Cayman description highlights front and side doors with mesh ventilation, a roof ventilation panel, PVC windows with privacy blinds and an integral front-facing eyebrow canopy. It also has a zip-out rear door and provision for optional sleeping accessories. Its listed footprint is 300 × 300cm, plus an 80cm cowl depth; allow additional room for guy ropes.

We are not calling either model the larger living space because the checked Roca specification does not give a directly comparable floor measurement. Compare the complete floorplans before deciding where your chairs, table and kit will go. Adding an annex also changes the space needed on the pitch.

Packed weight and storage

The listed weights are 18.1kg for the Roca and 15.6kg for the Cayman. On those figures, the Cayman is 2.5kg lighter. Check whether each quoted weight covers the same equipment before treating that as a complete loaded-kit comparison.

The bags are different shapes: 75 × 40 × 40cm for the Roca and 77 × 45 × 35cm for the Cayman. Measure the storage space in your van rather than assuming the lighter awning is easier to stow. Include any carpet, annex or connection kit you plan to carry.

Pitching: compare the routine, not just the minutes

Both models use inflatable main structures and include a manual pump. The Cayman description specifies single-point inflation; the Roca description confirms AirBeam construction without specifying its valve arrangement.

The listings quote approximately eight minutes for the Roca and 15 minutes with two people for the Cayman. These are not a controlled head-to-head test, so they do not prove that one will take you seven minutes less on your pitch. Positioning, pegging, connecting to the van, inflation and tensioning all form part of the job. Follow the exact model’s pressure and pitching instructions.

Fabric, rain protection and ventilation

Both descriptions list a 4,000mm hydrostatic head. That does not mean identical overall weather performance: seams, design, entrances, ventilation and correct pitching matter too. We have not ranked fabric durability because the Roca listing currently uses different fabric names in its description and specification.

Use the supplied ventilation to help manage moisture and follow the manufacturer’s weather guidance. Condensation is not the same thing as water entering through the fabric, and no touring awning should be treated as storm-proof.

Price and included accessories

At the checked prices, the Cayman is £101 less than the Roca and includes a protective footprint as well as its manual pump, peg set and carry bag. The Roca description confirms a manual AirBeam pump; it does not state that a protective footprint is included.

Build your budget around the complete setup. Check any compatible footprint, carpet, annex, inner tent or drive-away connection accessories separately. Do not assume optional accessories fit both brands or that a sleeping area is included because one can be added.

Which would we choose?

Choose the Cayman Air Low if its 180–220cm range suits your vehicle and your priorities are the £599 package, included footprint, lower listed weight and its described door and canopy arrangement.

Choose the Roca Air Low if your connection point is within 180–210cm and its layout, hanging-system compatibility, AirZone ventilation and optional Roamer annex are a better match for your holidays. Check the floorplan and total accessory cost before deciding.

For either model, the best value is the awning that fits your van, your pitch and the way you camp, not simply the lowest price or shortest published pitching time.

Frequently asked questions

Is this comparison about the Cayman Air T3 Low?

No. It compares the standard Cayman Air Low 2026 with free footprint against the Vango Roca Air Low. Cayman T-series models are separate products with their own specifications.

Will both fit a 215cm attachment point?

No. The Cayman’s listed 180–220cm range includes 215cm, while the Roca Low’s 180–210cm range does not. Other connection requirements still need checking.

Which is lighter?

The current listings show 15.6kg for the Cayman and 18.1kg for the Roca. Confirm the equipment included in those figures and add any accessories you will carry.

Does the Cayman include a footprint?

Yes, the Cayman Air Low 2026 listing compared here includes a free footprint. The checked Roca description does not state that a protective footprint is included.

Can I drive away and leave either awning standing?

Both are drive-away designs. Use the correct connection arrangement, disconnect the vehicle fully and secure the awning according to its instructions before moving off.

Can either take extra sleeping accommodation?

The Roca description offers a compatible Roamer annex separately. The Cayman description lists an optional two-berth sleeping annexe and provision for inner tents. Check the exact compatible accessory and package before ordering.
