Vango and Bestway Airbed Buying Guide: Camping, Comfort and Guest Beds

Damian Rowe |

Choose an airbed by checking its intended use, inflated dimensions, preferred sleeping height and pump requirements. For camping, make sure it fits your tent and is suitable for that use. For guests at home, consider available floor space and access to power.

This guide compares three Vango airbeds and seven Bestway listings available through World of Camping. Some Bestway listings have similar names, so use the linked product page to check the exact model rather than assuming their specifications are interchangeable.

Still deciding whether an airbed is the right type of sleeping surface? Read our self-inflating mat vs airbed guide for UK camping to compare comfort, insulation checks, inflation methods, tent fit and total cost before choosing a model.

Choosing an airbed that fits your tent

Measure your tent’s usable sleeping compartment before choosing a single, double, queen or king-size airbed. Size names alone do not guarantee a fit.

Allow space for bags, bedroom doors and getting in and out. Raised beds also need clearance from sloping tent walls: a mattress that fits at ground level may have less room around it at sleeping height.

If you want two double airbeds, compare their combined inflated width with your planned layout. A tent’s berth rating does not guarantee that every bed arrangement will fit comfortably.

Vango airbeds: flocked surfaces, raised beds and adjustable comfort

The Vango Double Flock Airbed offers a flocked sleeping surface and is described as packing down small. Consider it when you want a double airbed, then check its full dimensions and pump requirements.

The Vango High Rise Flocked Double Airbed provides a higher sleeping surface with a flocked finish. A raised surface may make getting on and off easier for some campers, but check your tent’s overhead clearance.

The Vango Blissful Double Airbed features Custom Comfort firmness settings, an elevated sleeping surface and a Silent Top Up System designed to detect pressure loss and top up the air. Confirm its power requirements before planning your campsite setup. This feature is not a guarantee against punctures or every cause of deflation.

Bestway Flocked Double: a separately inflated option

The Bestway Flocked Double Airbed features a flocked sleeping surface, supportive internal structure and a large nozzle for fast inflation and deflation.

Its description does not establish that a pump is included. Check supplied equipment and valve compatibility before buying a separate pump.

Bestway TriTech Single and King: built-in AC pumps

The Bestway TriTech Single Size Airbed with Built-in Pump and Bestway TriTech King Size Airbed with Built-in Pump feature triple-layer TriTech material, wave-beam construction and flocked sleeping surfaces.

Both listings specify built-in AC pumps and storage bags. Their descriptions also mention external inflation options. Follow the exact model’s instructions and confirm compatibility before choosing an alternative pump.

For campsite use, confirm the airbed’s intended-use guidance and suitable power arrangements. Do not assume that a built-in pump is rechargeable or battery-powered.

Bestway TriTech Aerolux: raised Single and Queen options

The Bestway TriTech Single Aerolux Airbed is listed at 191 × 97 × 46cm. It has an integrated electric pump, built-in pillow and carry bag.

The Bestway TriTech Queen Airbed Mattress with Electric Pump is also listed as 46cm high, with an integrated electric pump, built-in pillow and carry bag. Check its full inflated length and width on the product specifications before choosing it.

These raised options need sufficient floor space and overhead clearance. Confirm the pump’s power supply and manufacturer guidance for your intended use before ordering.

Bestway TriTech indoor and guest-bed options

The following two listings specifically describe indoor use, so we are including them as guest-bed options rather than confirmed camping recommendations.

The Bestway Queen TriTech Airbed measures 203 × 152 × 46cm. Its listing specifies TriTech material, I-beam construction, a flocked surface, integrated pillow, storage bag and built-in pump that connects to a standard UK 240V socket.

The Bestway TriTech Single Airbed measures 191 × 97 × 46cm. It also has TriTech material, I-beam construction, a flocked surface, integrated pillow and storage bag. Its built-in pump is listed for a UK 220–240V supply.

Check the exact product’s instructions before using either outside its stated indoor setting.

Airbed height, comfort and warmth are different

A taller airbed is not automatically more comfortable for every sleeper, and height alone does not establish insulation performance.

Choose comfort by considering firmness, usable width and sleeping position. For cooler-weather camping, check manufacturer insulation guidance and use suitable bedding for the expected overnight conditions.

A flocked top, raised surface or electric pump does not establish a minimum comfortable camping temperature.

Airbed advice from World of Camping in Cornwall

For camping holidays in Cornwall or elsewhere in the UK, check your tent dimensions, campsite facilities and overnight forecast before choosing your sleeping setup.

Our shop and showroom is at 4 Bamber House, Victoria, St Austell, Cornwall, PL26 8LQ. Bring your tent measurements and ask our team about the options that suit your setup.

Before travelling, confirm opening hours and whether the particular airbed you want to see is available to view. Display availability and purchase stock should be checked separately.

Which airbed should you choose?

For a flocked double option, compare the Vango Double Flock and Bestway Flocked Double.

For a higher sleeping surface, explore the Vango High Rise and the raised Bestway models, checking clearance carefully.

For adjustable firmness and pressure top-up features, consider the Vango Blissful and confirm its power needs.

For indoor guests, compare the specifically indoor-listed Bestway TriTech Single and Queen against your room dimensions.

Choose the exact model by fit and intended use first, then comfort features, inflation method and storage requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Will a double airbed fit any two-person tent?

No. Compare the airbed’s inflated length, width and height with your tent’s usable sleeping compartment. Leave room for access and other kit.

What is the difference between the Bestway TriTech listings?

The listings describe different sizes and construction features, including wave-beam and I-beam designs. Some explicitly state indoor use. Check the exact linked product’s specifications rather than treating similarly named beds as identical.

Are all Bestway TriTech airbeds suitable for camping?

Do not assume so. The Bestway Queen TriTech and Bestway TriTech Single listings featured in the indoor section describe indoor use. For any model, check manufacturer guidance before choosing it for a tent.

Do Bestway built-in pumps need electricity?

The featured TriTech Single and King specify AC pumps, while the indoor Single and Queen specify UK mains supplies. The Aerolux listings describe electric pumps; confirm their exact supply requirements before use.

Does the Bestway Flocked Double include a pump?

The description checked for this guide does not confirm an included pump. Check the supplied-equipment details before ordering.

Is a raised airbed warmer than a low airbed?

Height alone does not establish warmth. Check insulation guidance and choose bedding suited to the expected overnight conditions.

What does the Vango Blissful Silent Top Up System do?

It is designed to detect air-pressure loss and top up the mattress. Follow its operating instructions and confirm power requirements before your trip.
